The diverted water along with available head between the intake and powerhouse will be utilized to produce 28.62 MW hydropower. The water downstream of the tailrace flows through the Marin River down to Bagmati river. The discharge of Bagmati River will be augmented by a more or less constant quantity diverted from Sunkoshi River which will facilitate a year-round irrigation in about 122,000 hectares of irrigable land in Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari and Dhanusa districts
